I'm back. I spent the entire 4 day weekend with the family, well not the entire weekend, I did go up to choctaw Friday night, but I have not played any poker since then. I have already warned the wife I will be hitting in hard this week. I am looking to win about $300 this week to cover my loses at choctaw the last two weeks. Its been brutal up there. I can't get any cards and when I do I get out flopped, I couldn't hit water if I fell out of a boat.
This last trip up there had one memerable hand for me. I picked up pocket Tens in UTG+1. Tom was in the BB and a loose and reckless guy was between us with Tons of chips, he was hitting everything. Well he bumps it to 5. I just wanted to play against him so I bump it to 20 preflop on a 1/2 NL table. Everyone folded to Tom, who calls. I was thinking great, every freaking hand I raised that night Tom called. Tom is going to deny this but you can ask Jake, he will tell you it was true. Anyways this guy comes over the top for $95 more. I was thinking WTF.Why do you come over the top for $95 more into a $46 pot. I counted my chips and had $86 left. I thought about it for what seemed like forever. I couldnt put this guy on a hand. Did he have overs, if he did it was a coin flip. Did he have AA, if so why push all those chips in? Did he have KK? I finally decided that he didnt have much, he was trying to push me out of the pot. I pushed my stack in and Tom folded. The guy jumped up and started saying "were heads up" over and over again. I thought to myself, "great I walked into AA, good job Vanman". Then the guy picks up his cards and slams them down on the table, Bam. I was leaning back from the table and couldnt see his cards, but with the conviction he through them down with I knew I was beat. I leaned forward to turn my cards over, just then I looked at his hand and started to laugh. All that drama and he had 88. I flipped over my TT and the whole table went nuts. The guy went silent, as if I "Donkey Punched" him. The flop came 679, he was now open ended. I was like great, this guy is going to catch, and to make matters worse it will be when I hit my set on the river. Well my Tens held up when it came Blank Blank and brought me back up to $200. I managed to get another $20 and ended the session down $80.
I played a round of golf this weekend. I have not played in over a year and the last time before that was 2 years, so basically I have played once in 3 years. I had two bad holes on the front nine but other than that I shot bogey golf. My goal was to shoot below 100 and I finished my round with a 94. On 18 I nailed my drive, 250 yards down the center of the fairway. My approach shot was short and left. The chip shot stopped 3 inches from the hold for a tap in par. For some reason number 18 is always like that, now I have to go back. I have decided to start playing golf again and I know some of you guys out there play so I am proposing we get together once or twice a month and play some golf. I am thinking the weekend of the 22nd would be a good start. Any takers?
Well its back to work and back to the poker grind for me. It was a good vacation while it lasted.
