+1 Phil Gordon is very cool. We were hanging at one of the bars at Rio last year during the WSOP. Gordon sits down next to us, and my wife starts giving him shit for being "that guy on 'Blind Date' that stopped the date mid-way through, told his date that she was acting like a total slut, and sent the girl home". She's a little tipsy, and of course, me and all my buddies tell her "WTF??? This is Phil Gordon. He's a big-time poker player!!!".
He could have easily Big-Timed us and just played the role of the big-time poker pro, but as we are giving my wife shit he interrupts us and says, "No, that WAS me. I lost a prop bet and had to go on that show, and my 'date' was so drunk and acting like such a whore that I sent her home and canceled the date early. It was the most embarassing things I have ever done!". He hung out and drank with us for a while before going back to his big-time life. |
