Hesitating Online

Hesitating Online

Did you ever over-hesitate before betting/raising?

The reason I ask is that I hesitated twice this weekend, and it actually worked. Once I flopped quads and waited till the river and hesitated before betting $100 (NLHE SNG). I asked for more time, etc. I tried to make it look like I was just taking one last shot at the pot, as cheap as possible. It worked like a charm, he came over the top and I immediately went all-in. He immediately called, and I took him out. He bitched from the side lines for a while, but I ignored him.

His bitching reminds me of another question. Is the "over hesitation" okay with the poker gods? I mean it is one thing when you have a pair or two, but with a straight flush or quads, is it overkill?
