Re: I shouldn't have shown 1st

Re: I shouldn't have shown 1st

[quote:fc7bc03bdd="1trkmind"]$1/$2 - $50-$200 game at motorcity. My table image is loose aggressive.
I'm in the BB and there's 3 limpers before me. I have Kd Qd and raise it up to $15.
The person UTG calls and the other two limpers fold.
HU.
The caller who is relatively new to the table but Ive watched fold some 2nd best hands and reraise with good hands, appears to play solid. [/quote:fc7bc03bdd]

I very rarely raise from the BB, although lots of good players do this. When I do, I want a premium hand (or a hand with almost no value, but strictly for balance). For the people that do it more, they just add in things with marginal value like 68s, etc. that have value but aren't likely to be dominated. Your raise here is enough of an overbet to achieve two things: 1) You get almost all worse hands to fold, and 2) When you do pull ahead on the flop, it will be hard to get action. As it happens, the situation at hand is that you're HU, which means his stack is the only one that matters, and you both have a SPR of about four. That's awesome for big pairs, not so much for KQs. The fact that you describe your opponent as solid makes it that much worse.

[quote:fc7bc03bdd="1trkmind"]The flop comes 10c 7h Qc.
I bet $35 trying to take the pot and he calls. [/quote:fc7bc03bdd]

You've hit the hand you wanted, and now mention taking the pot? The bet is ok, but once this flop action happens, you're both pretty much committed to the hand. Yes, you might get away from it if the Jc comes, or you pick up a read or something. But, for the most part, you're getting it in. I'm not usually ok with getting it all-in with top pair, K kicker, but it's player/game dependent, obviously.

[quote:fc7bc03bdd="1trkmind"] 4th street is the Ad. The boards now 10c 7h Qc Ad
He only has $83 left, I'm thinking he could have J10, QJ, KJ, AQ or some combination of 4 to a flush or straight.
I bet $50 thinking he can't bluff me or come over top if he's weak or on a draw. [/quote:fc7bc03bdd]

Don't leave any doubt. Stove top stuffing time. All-in.

[quote:fc7bc03bdd="1trkmind"]
He shoves with his remaining $88 and I call the additional $33.
The river's a 2d. I show my hand and he's says "fucking King kicker" then mucks his hand.
My guess is he had QJ. It's bugging the shit out of me. After busting him it seemed uncalled for to make the dealer show his mucked cards or ask him what he had. I should have made him show 1st.[/quote:fc7bc03bdd]

As I said before, my guess is that he had something much worse that he was embarrassed of.

As much as I don't like your line, his is downright awful. So, then, the area of improvement that opens up is why did you think he was a solid player and how can you get better at classifying opponents?
