Poker Tipping

Poker Tipping

I know we have sorta discussed this before, but since tipping is "down" at the WSOP I figured it was a good time to discuss.

http://pokerati.com/2009/06/05/dealer-report-cash-game-tips-noticeably-down/

When you play a cash game, how much and how often do you tip?

When you play a poker tournament, what percentage of the prize do you tip, if any?

I have a repuatation for being a cheap guy, with that said, my poker tipping habits go something like this:

Cash Games (1-2 and 2-5), I never tip more than $2, $3 if its a really big pot and I like the dealer. But typically I will tip $1 for most decent size pots. I never tip small pots.

Tournament Poker: If the tournament is $50+$10, where the extra $10 goes toward food and some other pool of money, and sometimes you get extra chips for that extra $10. To me, that is a $60 tournament. When I win, I subtract that $60 from the prize pool, and then I figure out what 10% is and I'll usually give that back to the dealers.

Unless of course, the tournament was a self-deal event, and the only time there is a permanent dealer is at the very end, then I'll adjust accordingly.
