BAD, BAD BEAT! NO BISCUIT!
Besides the infamous "I flopped quads and still lost", this is the badest beat I've seen. Now everyone knows that I'm infamous for messing these hand details up, but I took some notes on this one. Let me see if I can get this right!
Flop comes 4c 8h 7s
$20 raise goes all the way around. Button Raises to 120 everyone folds except last player. He raises to $240, Button goes all-in. Player calls.
Button - 4h 4s
Player - As 8s
Turn is 8c. Now button has full house, player has set of 8s.
River is 8d. Player wins with quads!
Thankfully, the "Player" was me and it was the third hand of a $10 9-player SNG I went on to win for $45 last night. Here's the thing. Button made the right call. However, he had already pushed everyone out of every pot so far, so I thought he was bluffing. I had top pair with an A and a Spade flush draw. So I figured this was as good a time as any to gamble. Did I make the right call? I don't know. The more he bitched about it, the more I started to get frazzled. I thought he was calming down when he said, "That's cool." then a few seconds later he said, "8s are good, for a moron!" I said, "If you hadn't been playing so damn aggressive that early with unreasonable raises, I would have never called you! You will be out in a few hands, so let me be the first to say Good Day!" I threw a little British wording in that one.
I was just happy to be on the winning side of an unbelievable bad beat. That's why its gambling, right?
