3rd Place finish last night...
Hey guys.
Just thought I'd let you know that I placed third in a home tournament last night. $20 buy in and I took $50 for third place. Payout was $180, $80, $50. Sixteen started, three placed in the money. These aren't your average poker players either. It's funny, it's not the money that get's me excited at all; it's the respect you earn everytime you place in the money.
It could have been a bad night. I went all-in on the one girl in the tournament (semi-bluff;weak hand, trying to push her around), and she called with pocket queens. I lost that hand, took a huge hit. Played on tilt a few hands later and took another huge hit. I actually started walking away from the table when they informed me that I had a few chips remaining. Started going balls to the wall, all-in on almost every hand. Started doubling-up, tripling-up on good draws. People couldn't believe that I came back from nothing. As I noticed people dropping from the tourney, I slow-played and placed in the money. If you guys ever come back to Vegas, we have to play in this home game. Just like a casino tourney, minus the rake, and BYOB.
You guys take it easy. Think about another trip to Vegas; I'm always willing to host. No hotel fees, just pay for your transportation to and from Vegas (with gambling and food money of course.) See y'all soon. |
