I love this game
Have you ever been outside playing your sport of choice, you get hot, tired, and in my case out of breath. You play for 2-3 hours in the sun, and you are burnt and you feel great because you played hard.
Or you are out doing something manual, like putting wooden fence posts in, mowing the lawn on a hot day, or something equally physical.
Then...you grab that ice cold bottle of Gatorade, that glass of ice tea or ice water and you drink that first huge gulp. I love that feeling, where it feels like you were about to die, and all the sudden life itself is poring into you, and it makes you (for a moment) feel better than you have felt in a long time. It's almost euphoric.
That's what happened to me last night. With everythin that is going on, I haven't been playing cards anywhere but at the Friday Five. Which has been a process over all, basically, I haven't played cards except for the Friday Five from last week.
I had a few minutes before going to the gym last night, and I sat down on UB for a single table SNG. It was like that first drink, I forgot how much I loved poker when I am on my game. It doesn't happen often, but my opponents couldn't have done anything against the onslaught, it was as if they turned over their cards to me, and I got to keep mine hidden. I made great reads, great calls, went in with the best hand, and basically dominated them the whole way. And to make it all the better, I was outplaying them with crap cards, and once my cards started improving, there was no chance for them at all.
I'm not bragging, I just wanted to say that it happens so rarely for me when I get in that "zone". I wish I could keep that feeling all the time. I never played sports in high school, but that has to be the way you feel when you just annialate your school's rival.
And to top it off, I was watching the game while I lifted which makes me lift more because my mind isn't on the pain.
