Re: What to do if the bettor mucks after you call on the riv

While I agree that you shouldn't have to ask you can do so. But why ask? If they mucked they most likely had ace high if they were the leader the whole way, or they had a small or mid pair? It's one of those things. Personally, I wouldn't ever ask, what if he misread his straight or something? Then you are just asking to ship your chips. Let the amateurs make their mistakes.

Actually, these guys wern't amateurs.
They knew exactly what they were doing and were very good poker players.

To the 'amateurs' at the table, they would act like they were going to show, but delay on showing their hands, until the amateur showed, then muck.
And asking to see their mucked hands, seemed to piss off the table.

To those that knew what they were doing (like me), they would delay, then seeing I wasn't going to show until they did, they would just muck.
Sometimes, they would immidently muck, deep into the deck, so their cards could not be retrieved..

They had no intention of showing their hands.

And trust me, these guys knew exactly what they were doing.
They wern't losing, and they were playing $1/$2 NL while on the list for $2/$5 (or $5/$10) NL.

It was angle shooting. And I have a right to see their hands.

ya think?[/quote:ab60ef034a]

In that case I agree. I have a tendency to call something like that out.

It's one of those things that I won't accept when people try it on me. If they much on me and i honestly fel that they are trying to abuse the privelage of muching after I paid to see their cards, I would make the dealer and the floor warn them. Otherwise I juse let it be, if they don't know what they are doing. The caller (as you know) paid to see the cards, and I don't think that they should have the right. Will I ask everytime though? I know I woudn't. I'm a fan of trying to read a hand as early as possible, it's not really imprtant to me.

P.S. As I am sure you know the local 2/5 players are mostly maniac gamblers, so their cards arn't good enough usually anyway, lol.
