Playing hands face up?

Playing hands face up?

Was pondering some hands from a tournament I played in a few weeks ago. And there was one hand that sticks out in my mind that I ended up losing too that when I ask myself if I knew what he had before making the call, would I have still made the call? In my case the answer was no.

But what about when you hold a Big Ace, like AQ and your opponent is all in with pocket 8's, and somehow you knew he had 8's. Is it right to call in that spot? (for the sake of this discussion, lets assume you had him out chipped at least 2:1)

Is this strictly a mathematical decision at this point?
