[quote:d324045ffe]In a move that has been rumored for the past few weeks Daniel Negreanu is set to sign an endorsement deal with PokerStars.com according to a source close to the online poker site.
Should the deal become final this will mark the third online poker site endorsement deal for Negreanu.
His first such contract was with PokerMountain.com, a company which never managed to gain any momentum during online poker’s rise.
In late 2005 Negreanu let it be know that he may be interested in selling his extremely popular blog, FullContactPoker.com, to a party interested in handling the marketing and business management side of an online poker room.
After turning down at least two offers to endorse two large poker sites, Negreanu sold FCP to Big Stack Enterprises based in Curacao, who chose the option of a skin for FullContactPoker.com on the OnGame Network. OnGame’s decision to abandon the U.S. market due to the UIGEA left Big Stack Enterprises and Negreanu searching for a new network capable of taking full advantage of his profile in the United States.
In November FullContactPoker announced they were switching to the Digital Gaming Network. That relationship appears to be on the verge of ending. If the deal is similar to the one Doyle Brunson orchestrated with Full Tilt Poker in February, players with a balance at FullContactPoker should expect a smooth transition of their funds to PokerStars.com.
PokerStars has been relatively active with endorsement contracts for professional poker players, but this marks the first time since this time last year they’ve inked a deal with a player who has a major U.S. following. Last summer they signed German star Katja Thater and double bracelet winner Bill Chen. In February they also signed Dutch phenom Noah Boeken.
