A Little Chinese. . .

A Little Chinese. . .

On Sunday, Action Greg and I played about three hours of Chinese while waiting for the rains to clear. (We had some tennis scheduled, but not with cats and dogs pouring down.)

I know that there is a lot of randomness in Chinese, but I was surprised at how even and non-volatile the match was. We played straight up, three points per hand. No bonuses or royalties. And the most either one of us got up was by seven points. 90% of the hands resulted in one point going to the winner, and we usually swapped the same point back and forth. In the final result, I ended up winning by five points, and that was because the last hand ended with a lucky scoop.

I don't understand these guys who say they lost 200K playing Chinese. Even at $1000 a point, how is it possible for a pro to get down that many points in a single session? Either they absolutely suck at it, and never figure the game out, or there is something that I am missing.

Anyway, we're planning another session before the DSOP. He swears revenge, but we'll see.
