Dealing with the Big Stack

Dealing with the Big Stack

I think I mentioned this question while replying to another post some time ago. You guys should have taken notice because it was one of the few times I was actually serious.

You get to the final table and you're, for example, 4th or 5th place (around $8000 in chips). The blinds are $300/$600 $50 ante. The big stacks are making everyone pay to play. They double or triple the BB pre-flop even if they aren't in the blinds. I find, more times than not, if I do get involved in pots they have the money to keep raising and scare me off. Before I know it, I'm folding everything hoping I get a decent hand before my next BB. When I do see someone call them out all the way to the river, they show hands I know they wouldn't play if they weren't stacked. I have actually done this to others when I have been big stack at the final table. How do you deal with that as a small stack?

Do you buckle down and play ultra-conservative? Do you come over the top of them with any sign of a decent hand? Do you go all-in when you usually wouldn't just to try and get some respect?

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!
