In detroit all 3 casinos have a $50-$200 1-2 blinds NL game. For the most part the action looks like this:
fold, call, call, call, fold, call, call, call, call, call. If there's a raise (in or out of position) it looks more like. Raise fold, fold, fold, call call call. it's almost impossible to get heads up. Even with a pre-flop raise of $15-20 you get at least two callers. On the up side, if noone hits the flop hard they all check then fold. that's the loose game. In the "looser" game, they don't fold on the flop. The call with any pair and any draw. I've tried to "raise the limpers" and the "reraise steal" most of the time anyone with $ in calls to protect it. When you re-raise, now the flop has $80 or so in, give or take and with another bet I've put in 1/3 of my stack. If I get raised I'm pretty much risking the entire buy in.
I've heard the cleche "if the tables loose play tight, tight play loose." but in fact if the tables extremely loose I have to loosen up too and play a wider range of hands. Admittedly, I haven't beaten this weak game yet. I'm not happy putting 1/4 to 1/2 my stack in the middle without having a decent hand but if I don't I get run over. I've tried to keep the pots small and open with $7 bets. The same 6 callers that would have limped will call. I feel like I should be beating this game by now, in actuality, there's only a few guys in there consistantly beating it. Putting someone on a hand helps. But, when the players are more than happy to call off their entire stack with bottom pair, 4 flush or 3 to a straight it makes it hard to bet. When I get good cards I'll get paid off. How can I beat this type of game when I'm card dead?
