Bad Beat Mania

Bad Beat Mania

The Bad Beat Jackpot at MotorCity Casino is about 70k creating an unusually busy Monday night. I get seated with 2 women, 6 blue hairs and one newbie. After about 2 orbits I realize this table is tighter than Hannah Banana and decided to play my position extremely aggressive. I raise on my button with rags and take it down on the flop with a C bet. I raise on the cutoff with rags and take it down on flop with a C bet. I raise the next hand with suited connectors and again take it down again on the flop. I decide I'm going to continue this until someone plays back at me. (oh yeah, all of these pots are unraised to me) I raise again with A rag and the flop comes A A 10 w/ two spades and I overbet thinking who's going to believe this? and again, they all fold. I conclude this is the nit-iest table I've ever sat at. Based on this conclusion I decide to play extremely LAG which I normally don't but, what better time to try a new style?. After an hour or two, nobody believes a thing I do and I'm just waiting for a big hand to get paid. I finally flop a flush, the 2nd nuts and get it all in with a player who hits runner runner for a boat. Then again when I flop 2pr and he calls with top pair and rivers a bigger two pair. I wasn't comfortable playing this loose but can see how with a little luck it could've paid off. Needless to say I'm down $300 on my experiment and am not sure if I'll try it again. If it dint work at that table I don't know how I could pull it off at a different table.
