guy flops the nut straight against me

guy flops the nut straight against me

this hand is in the same game as my other post
$20 buy-in cash game $.50/$1

for once at this table of call stations, one person called the big blind and everyone else folded, i got a free look at the flop with Ad 2d, the flop came Ah Qd Jd, i see this flop and i am pretty sure i have the best hand with top pair (shitty kicker, I know) and the nut flush draw, this player is a relatively decent player and not as loose as the rest of the table, so he checks to me, and i make a $3 bet, he raises $3 more. i call. turn came 4s, no help to either of us, this time he bets $5, and i call, river came 8h, so i miss my flush and only have the pair of A's. he bets another $5 on the river, and this is where i went wrong, i put him on the flush draw as well, only because i had seen him raise twice before in that same position, i raised an additional $10, of course he re-raises me $10 more, and at this point i dont like my pair of A's, i was confused that the re-raise only doubled my raise instead of more, of course he was looking for a call which he got from me, and when he showed me his hand, i just mucked
ok, my questions are:
1. Was it possible for me to get away from this hand?
2. Should i have raised preflop with my A?
3. Should i have raised on the river?

pretty embarrassed abt that hand and how i played it but just looking for some feedback so i dont do that again
