OK, after getting my ass kicked the last three times I have sat down at your tables, I am coming back with a little more humility to ask the questions.
I've been playing more SNGs lately, and I am starting off very slow back into online poker. So here is what my play schedule has looked like, and I have questions.
Friday 5 (1/6), placed 4th - no rebuy
Friday 5 (1/13), placed 5th - no rebuy
$5.50 SNG (1/19) placed 4th - freezeout
Friday 5 (1/20), placed 6th (I think) - 1 rebuy
$5.50 SNG (1/23) placed 4th - freezeout + $1.63 at the .01 - .02 NL table
Now my question is, with the limited amount of time that I have (I am usually out Tuesday - Thursday with friends, and Saturday as well). I have Monday, Friday and Sunday to play. Fridays are spent on the 5, which is fine, I rather enjoy it. But I am obviously not a match for the quality of players that sit there.
However, since I have started tracking my win/loss ratio, I have actually become a little concerned that the frequency of my losses is currently at 100% and that's not good. It's all tournaments (except for the burnoff on the cash game yesterday), but I would like to turn the SNG profits around. So without further ado ... here are my questions to the pack.
#1 What is the frequency (particularly you Tom) of the SNG win? If I am supoposed to be winning 1 out of 4 SNGs then I may need to rework strategy.
#2 Math is obviously a factor for me in the game that I need work on. I have the books, and I am grinding through them, but damn they are boring. Is there a way to better my understanding of the odds? All the EV calculations seem too long to be able to do at a table. Outs I get, odds I don't.
#3 Maybe SNGs are not the way to go?
#4 Maybe 5 tournaments is not enough to make a good decision yet?
#5 Any other thoughts are welcome. No I will not be a bitch hat wearing nancy boy about it either, so toss them up there. So if there are weaknesses in my game that you are willing to share, let me know. I'm definately up for improvement.
