OK, so I have been venturing into the low limit SNGs as an alternative to the limit games to try and make a little money on the side. But when we talked about frequency last time, there were some interesting comments made:
[quote:d144065205]with online sit n goes ... well its like this you ahve to be aggressive at somepoint. your finishing 4-5th means that you did not get aggressive when you had to and that going into the final 4-5 you were the short stack or one of them. Its called making a stand.
I try to never get in this position the crucial point the most SNGs is when there are 6 people left. at this point there are likey 2 big stacks these people unless they are complete donkeys are almost guranteed to make the money. you should in my opinion strive to be one of these two. but if you are not you need to start looking to make a move ... you dont want to be a short stack going into the final 4-5 the reason being is that the top three players will start to team play, its not collusion its jsut smart play, why pick on the other big stacks when you just want to make the money, and there is less risk for them to put a small stack all in then to put a big stack all in..... and of you are the small stack you need to realize this and be willing to go all in with any decent hand... any ace will usually do..
I dont know what my current win% is at online SNGs... I would guess it is some where in the 34-38% range. and a win is just placing in the money. to be prfotible assumeing that you come in 1st,2nd and 3rd the same amount of times you need to be like 32.5+% of the time in the money.
there is so much to write and I have to get back to work... i will try and say more later.[/quote:d144065205]
I want to hear more about this. My strategy has never been flushed out before, so my goal was always to simply avoid trouble until about 5 people or so, and then start to get a little more aggressive. Tom, can you go into this a little more? Any additional thoughts you have on this would be greatly appreciated.
