I was thinking about this for a little bit after I left the casino..while I think this might be a problem I have in a limit game it could also very well happen to me in a NL game..and cost me alot. Let me tell you what I mean. I think I'm pretty good at getting reads on people for whatever reason - betting patterns..whatever. Last night in my 4/8 game there were multiple times where I put people on a hand and I was right nearly every time but I still felt the need to see it. One hand I got involved in I flopped a straight but then the board paired on the end and I said, "You've got a boat now, but I'm gonna have to go ahead and pay you off" and reluctantly call - she flips over the boat. Another hand, I put this person on a straight but I've also got one..I'm positive they have the higher end and I still call knowing I'm beat. I've done this more than I should, and I'm just wondering is this just the nature of a limit game? It would certainly be different in a NL game if I know I'm beat .. I'll reluctantly fold instead of reluctantly calling. Maybe I'm already answering my own question..I do feel the need to see it even when I know what they have..sometimes. What do you say in your head when you've got a made hand but you think theirs is better? I know you dont just lay it down instantly..there's a big part of you that wants to see those cards. It's the same reason people ask, "If I fold.. will you show?" when they are making a big laydown.
