Counting Cards at the Blackjack table

Counting Cards at the Blackjack table

I tried counting cards at the Blackjack table this week in Lake Charles. I got to talking with our statistician here at work a couple weeks ago and how during college he and some buddies “supplemented” their income counting cards. “Just don’t get greedy” was his advice. I only kept track of the cards 10 thru K. 96/312 in a six deck game. I didn’t really have an advantage until the deck was getting closer to being re-shuffled. Then, depending on the number of cards left, I would hit on a 16 or 15 and almost never get busted or I would double down on 11 knowing that there were still like 32/80 cards left to make my 21. It worked.

What do you guys think of counting cards? I know it’s illegal, but so are the underground poker rooms.
