That's true he does say that in his excellent books, but he also says makes an equally important point that your primary playing style should be a reflection of your personality. And that as a general rule you will make the most money when you play the opposite of your primary style.

As an example I tend to be a somewhat conservative person and my primary style is to play tight aggressive poker. When I change gears to a loose style it feels uncomfortable to me and if I try to play that way for too long, I’ll donkey off money, because it’s unnatural for me, but for short bursts it is very effective.

I think Dan’s point is that any style can work, but not for any person, the way you play needs to match who you are.
