same question, asked a different way...
[quote:5efc63baba="on tilt"]my 2 cents....
1. you must separate the house from the dealer. separate the rake from the dealer toke. i know that players are pretty much obligated to take the toke because of the value of doing so....and that is their pay. if no one took the toke, the dealers wouldn't get paid. i pretty much agree with tommy, my only other thought is this. don't penalize the dealer for a heavy house rake. that's the house's money and most players are aware of this going in.
2. base you tipping on the dealer......how much was the toke? $5, $10, more. was the dealer any good? 10% is not a bad number if you happy with the dealers. and if you like, subtract the toke from the 10%.
the fact of the matter is that a tip is a "gratuity" and is absolutely a descresionary contribution. you give what you want. now, i personally alway try to tip well, whether it be at a table or a restaurant. but dealers should understand that no one is obligated to tip and should under no circumstances ever "hound" players for tips
also take into consideration how long they actually had to work. was it essentially a "SNG" or did they spend 4 or 5 hours dealing a deepstack tourny.
that's my opinion. and considering i've been on both sides of the issue, i think it's fairly objective.[/quote:5efc63baba]
After you consider all the above factors,
how much (per hour) should a good
dealer make???
If the the dealer knows what he/she is
doing, is courteous and does it well,
my question is, not how much do/should
you (or any player tip) but:
how much (per hour) should a dealer make?
$10, $15, $18.75, $20 or more???
I suppose there is not a "correct" answer here.
And I'm sure the more time someone has
spent in the box and had to deal with
azzhats & other crap that comes his way
will have a direct effect on what someone's
opinion of what this number should be.
Throw some numbers out there & tell why/how
you come up with them. Thanks.
