The initial WSOP schedule that was released months and months ago had three days allotted for Day 1. After that, a day off, then the start of Day 2. For those who are wondering what I'm talking about, the first X amount of players would play on Friday (Day 1A), the same number on Saturday (Day 1B), and so on.
So what does this all mean? Well, a couple things. First off, it seems like demand is pretty high for the main event. If Harrah's felt like they needed to add a fourth starting day, there must be a good number of players already pre-registered for the $10,000 event. I think my original estimate of 5,300 might be a little low … which I am extremely happy about.
The other thing to think about is how the tent has been hated among players so far this year. With the addition of another day, Harrah's might be opting to keep the tent out of the main event scenario, losing its additional tables. If this is the case, they'd have to decide whether the event will play 10-handed or nine-handed, which I'd have to guess is probably based on demand.
