So I have been in Tunica almost all of last week and did good/bad.
Its like a big compound with 3 hotels and only 1 of them within walking distance of the casino I had about a 3-5 minute shuttle ride to the casino but the shuttles ran every 5 minutes so it wasnt to bad.
I played event 8-12.
Apparently biloxi (sp) had a wpt event at the same time so the fields were tiny.
The circuit people missubmitted their schedule to the gaming commission so instead of starting with 4k we started with 2k in the 500$ events (sucked)
Event #8 Played bad and got unlucky
Event #9 Played moderatly well and got unlucky.
Specifically I flopped 3 nines and so did another guy we both slow played it to the river. betting about half the pot each time with him making a big raise on the river which I thought about before I called. He had T9 to my J9 of course there was a T on the river. I recovered from that and got back to even the lost several hands speculating and eventually busted out to a higher flush.
Event #10 (HORSE) played ok didnt get any cards there were only 32 entries and some of them didnt even know you needed 8 or less for the low. Why couldnt I catch any cards?
Event #11 Played well never really got any good cards lost with AK to a set.
Event #12 Placed 6th. So your gonna get a bit of a story here.
We started with 6k chips and the blinds were an hour. I started out playing to many hands and calling when I shouldnt have. I got lucky and rivered a couple of decent sized pots. Finally the old guy next to mentioned that I was retardedly lucky and I realized I was being a donk. His mistake because I switched gears and started playing B+ poker.
I moved tables to a complete assholes table and bluffed him out of about 1k chips, because I knew he was a bluffing machine. he almost started a fight with a pro named Hoyt,. Hoyt got a free hour break for his trouble. (Hoyt ended up finishing 11th even with his hour break) Asshole played almost everyhand and if it wasnt raised it became 650 (blinds were 50/100) lucky that table broke after about 20 minutes.
I moved to this table with a guy from Georgia named Wayne whom I had met in Vegas last June. I had told him about "read em and reap" by Joe navvarro and he thanked me for telling him about the book when I sat down. That right there made my B+ game go to an A game. Because every time I would forget about reading people I would see Wayne and remember. I was totally focused for the rest of the tournament from that point on. We grinded away until there were 14 left and the night ended. I was a middle stack with 76k there were 4 with less than me, 3 huge stacks and the otheres were close enough to my stack. The blinds were 1500/3000 400.
Important to me note I had been begging every time for people to just fold to me when I was in the BB I hadnt got one all tournament. Finally the guy to my right gives me one. I try not to look at my cards if I dont have to so I am just going to muck them. The cards are half way to the muck when he says he can I see those. I flip them up into the muck KK, I announce to the table that I wont show them again and curse the guy that gave me the free ride.
I went and played omaha for two hours it was about 4:15am or so and I needed to change my flight. Which was easy took 15 minutes. I took my shuttle back went up to my room and laid down to sleep its about 5:00am I can get about 8 hours before the tournament starts at 2 I figured.
Then I remembered I had to check out that day. I called and they were booked up. booked up! Oh shit I got to sleep about 6am and woke up at 9:30am I got another room at the gold strike (which I though was much better than the grand casino) but didnt have a way to get there. No taxis but there was a shuttle. I went and waited for the shuttle. It was 11am now. No shuttle.... 3 hours of sleep..... I found a sign... the shuttle doesnt start running until 2pm I remembered seeing a rental car thing at the hotel I was at I rode the shuttle back to the hotel and rented a car. $130 poof. 3 hours of sleep....
I made it to the room at the gold strike at noon. I havent eaten since yesterday and 7pm and am hungry. I go up to my room it smells like mold (I am allergic to some molds so I am slightly concerned) and lay down and start having asthma I havent had asthma in a long time I have like 1 attack a year. I get up after 5 minutes and go down stairs and get some thing to eat, I eat 1 piece of pizza. I never develop a real asthma attack (I got my room changed to a different one and was fine) and head back to the casino I get there a 1:31 and cant find a parking place... So sleepy around and around I drive, some bastard races in front of me and takes a parking place I didnt see.. 3 hours of sleep. I think I have lost 5 pounds since I arrived in tunica all my shorts are falling off. I find a parking place far away from the casino. No one is around I change to pants in the parking lost and head inside. There will be no food breaks, I drink a red bull (havent had caffine since 7pm yesterday either) and feel pretty awake the tournament starts.
I feel pretty good. I manage to win blinds enough times to build up over 110k nobody is busting out even though some people started the day with 11k one guy gets down to 5k and goes all in and no one calls him on the other table. Finally we bust some people out I bluff a pro named doug and cripple him he goes out about 20 minutes later after having won the blinds twice having gone all in. The other table finally busts some people out and the final table begins.
My buddy Wayne went out 7th.
I made it to 6th and played very well. I had about 106k and bluffed and some one went all in blinds were (6000/12000 1000ante) they had a little bit less than me. I made it 40k to go and he pushed I had QJo and just felt beat as this guy had not been pushing and had a solid rep. I though about going ahead and calling anyways, but I didnt. I pushed twice and was not called. I think I had 56k when AJ pushed all in under the gun. I had K6s and 42k left in my stack if I folded. I felt like he was weakish for his position. His AJ held up and I busted out.
