[quote:d97f424e9e="on tilt"][quote:d97f424e9e="TommyTwoToes"]how many of yall have lost touch with the value of money since starting to play poker? i find myself saying ..."eh that is just one buy in" when referencing things that i want to buy. also when i think of 1 grand or even 5 grand i think of it as not much money.... when in reality it is.[/quote:d97f424e9e]
to an extent but slightly different.
I don't have a problem bring $500 to a 10/20 game, know very well that i might walk away with nothing. but if i'm looking to purchase something for $500, i will probably go back and forth on it for months before i ever part with the money.[/quote:d97f424e9e]
Yeh. Thats a good point. I'll spend 2-3 months furniture shopping for tables, couches, whatever just to save $20 or $50. Same routine for a TV and other similar items.
And when racing dirtbikes, I would find the cheapest price, even drive 8 hours one way to get a new bike...but I wouldn't think twice about it. It was what keeps me sane, so I know it is worth it.
And poker, I won't say I have a problem with it, but throwing down hundreds and even more than $1000 on a several occasions for a tournament buy in really didn't effect me. But again, I considered it entertainment expense.
I think the lure of great expectations seems to grab a lot of people as a way to raionalize the expenidures in their mind.
